A lot to look at here. The not knowing what is going on is part of "the fun” for me, makes the work seem even weirder—I’m looking for weird cartooning—but if you know German, maybe it’s more interesting. Maybe it’s more boring? Maybe the ideas and ideology on display are too dark if you understand.
I took 4 years of German in school, but it never made a big impression…The German word for “joke” is “ulk.”

While visiting the comics show at the Chicago Cultural Center the other day (see my Instagram Highlight here for more) I saw a pre-echo of the famous distracted boyfriend meme in this strip by Frank King, which appeared on April 2, 1916 in the Chicago Tribune.
