Some zine ideas 2020
- A magazine: “DUH.” Like MAD, political, dumb, current events and culture. “A DUH look at _______” I would write the whole thing, like Kurtzman. PG13, antiwar, anti-fascist, anti-racist, vegan, anti-everything bad, insane
- Fire and cloud drawings, zine, named “Particulates”
-zine, b/w on color paper (maybe riso?) “Trump Buddies.” Pictures and drawings of groups of men dressed up like Trump “Patriots.” Ironic overall but not a hint of condescension in any formal choices. The logo should be “cool” in a general way that would appeal to 65-75 year old white men. Liam Neeson, Bruce Willis, action movie typography. Classified ads in the back.
- “Therapy Notes.” Cartoonists share their doodles from telehealth therapy sessions.
- Idea for a body of work based on the stories of people who overcame a struggle. Very simple and straightforward execution. Documentary style, Joe Sacco, realism. Mix of levels of struggle, diverse stories.
- Idea for comics series based on the experience of convicts, ex-cons, etc. “Jail Comics.” Actual comic book with old fashioned cover, 2 per year. Could pair (young or old) cartoonists with ex-cons, or write letters to prisoners to get scripts.
- “I have an idea for a name for a zine or blog about books: Shelf Life!” “Half Shelf Life!” “Shelfish Life!” “I’m allergic to Shelfish Life!”
