excerpts from a CC Beck interview

taken from this interview.

Posting these interesting shop talk tips and tricks excerpts. I took screenshots of and posted below are either hobbyhorses of mine, or set off a light bulbs enough that I was moved to screenshot and post.

There’s great high-res comics covers and stories at the link, it’s worth clicking.

The thing about how the interviewer fumbled getting the big book out before Beck died is rough to think about.

** Notes on Designing Graphic Novels - electronic book version ::

New in the shop:
I wrote a zine last year about my experience designing The River at Night, the hardcover version that came out in 2019. A print version (which you can buy (and should, it’s good and the way this was intended to be read) by clicking here) is now ALSO available.

This electronic version (PDF) has many extra pages not in the print edition.

You can read some excerpts here.

See below for how to buy the electronic version, or see here for everything else that is also available.

Fielder 2.1

This is currently available only to “PAPER” SUBSCRIBERS. I print them myself send you one in the mail. If you like the idea of getting a comic book in the mail, I like the idea of sending you one, so let’s get together and make it happen. There will be smudges and marks from the copier that make each copy unique, and the wear and tear of moving through the miraculous US Postal system also adds to the unique, special qualities—the patina—of your rare and special individual edition.
